Aromatherapy for Massage Therapists and Bodyworkers

Learn how to experience the benefits of nature's gift of essential oils through the wonders of AROMATHERAPY!  This ancient art emerging into the modern world as science gives us yet another vehicle through which to nurture our Body, Mind, & Spirit. As a massage therapist or body worker, you will learn how to expand your skill sets and the benefits of integrating essential oils into your practice. This workshop will be interactive, hands on in addition to lecture to help you effectively treat chronic and acute ailments.

 

Day one will cover the history of Aromatherapy, definition of essential oils and extraction methods, Aromatherapy pathways, physiology of the sense of smell, respiration and skin absorption, use of the essential oils, carrier oils, diffusion methods and equipment as well as general precautions, contraindications and safety.

 

Day two will include specific properties of ten essential oils, use of diffusion equipment, distinguishing quality oils, gas chromatography, and chemical compounds of selected oils specifically those dealing with chronic and acute conditions causing pain, sports injury, muscle tension and inflammation, mental stress and anxiety.  Participants will receive guidance with formulating their own personalized blends in a massage cream or oil.  

 

Essential Oils, Carrier oils, diffusion equipment, and books will be on display and available to order. A 16 hour certificate of attendance is awarded which can be used toward massage re-licensing.

 

About the Instructor 

Sherry Giardiniere

Teaches Aromatherapy, has been studying, practicing, and teaching Aromatherapy among other methods of holistic health for over 30 years.  Her mission is to help herself and others to live as naturally and toxic-free as possible.  She has an active business, Scentsible by Nature, that provides all-natural aromatherapy products for personal and home use, personal consultations and training, and group workshops and speaking engagements. She is also a Reiki Master Practitioner in the Lehigh Valley, with multiple teachers and certifications in Ursui Reiki Method, Traditional Japanese Shoden, and Jikiden Reiki.  As a volunteer, Sherry provides both aromatherapy services and Reiki for hospice patients.  She additionally has many years of experience in healthcare informatics focusing on medical education and research and has presented and demonstrated on the topics of Telemedicine and Telesurgery for local, statewide and national meetings, and has held many diverse adjunct teaching positions for local colleges and universities.
