Prerequisite: Basic training in massage and anatomy
This class will explore massage treatments for common injuries of the lower body (low back, hips, and lower extremities) using an approach integrating a variety of techniques including lymphatic drainage, neuromuscular therapy, deep tissue, and myo-fascial release. We will discuss the idea of pain as a symptom of the injury rather than working under the assumption that it is always the injury itself. After discussing all possible avenues of symptomatic presentation including pain, posture, gait, mental state, emotional state, and any memory of the injuring accident, we will follow the related patterns in the soft tissue to release blockages and provide relief. Lastly, we will discuss what stretches or routines might be relevant to send home with clients after treatment. A certificate of completion is received which can be used toward PA or NJ massage license renewal.
