MASSAGE THERAPY PROGRAM FACULTY

Elizabeth Anne Grubb, CMT, NCBTMB, BA

is the president, shepardess, and inspirational breath who founded Health Options Institute in 1984. She has been teaching various classes in massage and holistic health since 1983. She developed and taught the first version of the current Deep Muscle Massage class in 1984. She currently teaches the evening Deep Muscle Massage classes, supervises student Clinic, and teaches The Mind/Body Connection and Flower Essences for Healers. She does ongoing program assessment and development utilizing input from students and faculty. She hand picks the faculty and personally oversees staff training, thereby ensuring the program’s integrity.

 

Her bodywork training includes:  Shiatsu with Laila Wah, Neuromuscular Therapy with Paul St. John, Reiki I and II with Reverend Beth Gray and Reiki I, II, and III with Reverend Susan Gideonse, Polarity with the Kripalu Center, Reflexology with the International Institute of Reflexology, Sports Massage with Rich Phaigh, Cranial Sacral Therapy with Colorado Cranial Institute and with Merry Witty, Wetzig Coordination Patterns, Body Electronics with John Ray and Robert Stevens, Hanna Somatics with Carol Welsh-Baril, Nuat Thai® with Kat Bartel, Touch for Health at the Center for Human Integration, Hot Stone Massage with Lisa Helbig and Randy Christman, Aaron Mattes Active Isolated Stretching, and Twining Structural Balancing.

 

Her holistic health training includes Flower Essences with Jennifer Tucker and Dorothy Wood Espiau; Iridology with the Wild Rose College, John Ray and Robert Stevens; Nutrition with the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing, the Perfect Health Foundation, John Ray, Dr. Donsbach, and Steve Chagnon; and  Herbology and Wild Foods training through the Wild Rose College of Natural Healing, Evelyn Snook, and many others.

 

Elizabeth does flower essence transformational sessions and develops personalized unique formulations for clients as needed. Elizabeth has over 7,500 hours of training and experience doing Dorothy Espiau's Circles of Life, Solutions, Interventions and Alternatives which are the primary modalities she currently practices. This work allows what was formerly impossible to become possible through reprogramming the human bio field to create success in the field of the initiative being integrated. Her additional counseling and mind/body training include Gestalt Therapy with Ute Arnold, Boundary Setting and Healing from the Core with Suzanne Scurlock-Durana, Continuum with Susan Harper and Emilie Conrad, Voice Dialogue with Hal Stone and Sidra Winkleman, and the Forum with Landmark Education.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Psychology from Temple University in 1979, graduating Summa Cum Laude, third in her class of 3,000.

Donna Ondek, LMT, CPT

Teaches Sports and Therapeutic Techniques, and Career Actualization classes. Donna is a member of the AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association) and ABMP (American Bodywork & Massage Professionals) and a graduate of Health Options Institute’s Massage Therapy Program.  She has additional training in lymph drainage massage, pain management, oncology and mastectomy massage.  She has led group fitness classes since 1988, been a certified personal trainer since 1992 through Aerobic & Fitness Association of America and is certified instructor of the Silver Sneakers Programs through Healthways, Inc.  She maintains a very active massage clinical practice in Trexlertown, Pa. and teaches yoga classes both privately and at O2 Oxyfit Gym, Macungie. Lee Ann Fotta, RYT

Teaches Shiatsu:Level I, Level II & Level III. She completed her shiatsu training at the International School of Shiatsu in Doylestown, Pa.  She has additional training with Ping Zhao of Authentic Eastern Health in Oriental Acupressure plus cranial sacral training with Upledger.  She is also a registered Ashtanga Yoga teacher. Currently teaches yoga at Twin Ponds, Lehigh County Senior Center, and Emmaus Yoga.  She began practicing shiatsu and yoga in 2000 and currently practices shiatsu in her own very successful private practice and with Lisa Baas, acupuncturist, who she assists at Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in Emmaus.  Additionally she practices traditional Oriental acupressure at Authentic Eastern Health in Bethlehem Township. She is currently studying massage at Health Options Institute to become a licensed massage therapist. She is well loved by the students and has been teaching Shiatsu at the Institute since 2009.

Michelle Radcliffe, LMT, NCBTMB

Teaches the Orthopedic Neuromuscular Therapy series.  Michelle is a licensed massage therapist and a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She is a graduate of the Somerset School of Massage Therapy with Neuromuscular Therapy Certification (Janet Travell's Method). She also completed a two year Fitness specialist Certificate program at the Raritan Valley Community College. She has been specializing in Neuromuscular Therapy in her own private practice in Bethlehem Township, Pa. since 2000. She is also a registered medical assistant and works part-time at St. Luke's. She has additional training in advanced myofascial massage, medical massage, pain management, sports massage, lymph drainage massage, facial massage, hot stone massage, and raindrop therapy. Veda King Blanchard, LMT, NCBTMB

Teaches Reflexology, Massage Techniques for Upper Body Injuries, and Lower Body Injury Treatments. Veda has been practicing therapeutic massage and bodywork for thirteen years. Veda’s focus is on using her trained hands to assist people, through massage, bodywork, and intuitive coaching in furthering their emotional, physical, and spiritual levels of relaxation and balance. Veda’s original training was at the Essex Group Institute for Massage and Bodywork in New Jersey. After graduation, she spent one and a half years working in the Athletic Training Room at Warren Wilson College where she gained additional experience, assessment, and treatment skills supporting athletes in maintaining balanced health and recovering from injury. Her background includes kinesiology coupled with tapping, trigger point therapy, cupping, lymphatic drainage, Master/Teacher level Reiki, zero balancing, deep tissue therapy, cranial sacral therapy, reflexology, cryotherapy and hydrotherapy, athletic taping and kinesio-taping, neuromuscular therapy, Trager, and pre/post-natal and delivery massage. She currently teaches massage classes at Warren County College in New Jersey and Health Options Institute in Pennsylvania. Veda leads periodic visioning and meditation groups, metaphysical workshops twice a month at two Centers for Spiritual Living in New Jersey, and wellness workshops to balance mind/body/spirit. Dr. Richard V. Simeone, DC, CCSP, DACBR

Who teaches Practice Procedures, Policies and Ethics; and Professional Ethics, has been in private practice as a chiropractor since 1984.  He is a graduate of New York Chiropractic College.  He is a Certified Chiropractic Sports Physician and has a Diplomat in Rehabilitation as well as Disability and Impairment Ratings.  He has extensive training in Low Speed Rear Impact Collisions and Collision Reconstruction.  He has been an expert witness in automobile and worker's compensation injuries for many years.  He has over the years incorporated Massage Therapists in the treatment of musculoskeletal injuries as part of his clinical practice.  He has developed this course in response to a need for applied massage procedures when interviewing and training Massage Therapists. He is presently a member of the Health Options Institute advisory board. He has recently been certified in Veterinary Orthopedic Manipulation and has been teaching at Health Options Institute for over 20 years.

Dr. Robert F. Swift, DC, BA, BS, MA

Teaches Anatomy & Physiology Levels I & II.  Dr. Swift holds degrees in Biology, Psychology, Philosophy, and Chiropractic, is a professional bodybuilding trainer, and musician incorporating Music-Sound-Vibration work into his holistic chiropractic practice.  He began professionally in 1982 by training partially limbed gym personnel whom no one else could help.  These included Vietnam veterans who needed on the spot assessment of limitations, deciphering true mechanical challenges from both perceived physical limits and psychological/emotional limits, and impromptu use of available materials for strapping, supporting, and stabilizing limbs or trunk in order to use existing equipment.  This “thinking beyond mere protocol” approach is evident in every course, workshop, and lecture he does.  Some of his teachers include Dr. Bernard Jensen (Iridology), Dr. Robert Thompson (Herbology), William Wolcott (Metabolic Typing Nutrition), Gurucharan Sing Kalsa (Kundalini Yoga & AK), Fr. Thomas Berry (History of World Religions and the Ecosphere), and Jonathan Goldman (Vocal Toning/Harmonics).  He has been practicing holistic health since 1975 and using Iridology since 1978.

Deborah Baer, LMT

Instructs Deep Muscle Massage weekday classes and is the Reiki I and Reiki II instructor. She is a member of the American Massage Therapy Association. She began doing massage in 1999 after completing the Institute’s Deep Muscle Massage Program and then later come back to complete the Institute’s entire Massage Therapy Program. She completed the Reiki Master Level Apprenticeship and Teacher Training with Stacy Armstrong over the course of three years, ending in 2012. Since then she has been teaching Reiki. She has additional instruction in John Barnes Myofascial Release and Chi Nei Tsang with Mary Ellen Derwis. She formerly worked at the Journey Within in Allentown, and now works in her own private practice Soul Body Healing Arts where she integrates various styles of bodywork. Tracy Prostko, LMT

Instructs the MBLEx Coaching Class and Geriatric Hospice Massage, is a graduate of the Institute’s Massage Therapy Program and a member of the Association for Bodywork & Massage Professionals. She has additional training in oncology/palliative (cancer) massage through Cheryl Chapman and is a Reiki practitioner. She is currently contracted with Heartland Hospice as a paid licensed massage therapist and owns a successful private massage therapy practice. She additionally does community outreach via voluntary Reiki therapy at the Pocono Medical Center and as a Massage Therapist for the Pennsylvania Perimeter Rides Against Cancer.

Theresa Luchino, LMT

Supervises some of the student clinic evening classes. Theresa graduated from Health Options Institute in 2004. She has additional training in Zero Balancing, Reflexology, Manual Lymphatic Drainage, and Spa Techniques. She has been practicing massage at the LA Salon since 2005, and has worked in her own successful private practice since 2004.

Hayley Ahlgren, LMT, LE, CPC-A who supervises some of the student clinic classes, graduated from Health Options Institute after choosing massage therapy to complement her esthetics license. She is also a certified medical coder. She formerly practiced massage at Journey Within, and currently practices at Priority Physical Therapy. She had such a profound period of self-growth and discovery during her time as a student that she additionally works administratively and as an admissions recruiter at the Institute to encourage potential students to join the journey and experience the same program that changed her life.
